How do you present your research? Do you research both father's and mother's ancestry? How soon can you have my report ready? Can you work to a particular deadline? Why should I use your services? What will I receive?Upon completion of our research, your personal report will be presented to you securely bound in an attractive, library-quality binder, including all documents purchased during our investigations. How do you present your research?Your report will begin with a summary of the starting information which you provide and will then describe all the searches undertaken to work back from there. The records consulted are explained, the results analysed and the whole investigation reported step-by-step so that you can follow the strategy adopted to trace your ancestry. Your report will conclude with suggestions for and an assessment of the prospects for any future research. Do you research both father's and mother's ancestry? We will devote resources to the tracing back of whichever line is of most interest to you. We can divide resources between tracing back two lines if you prefer, but it is not usually feasible to work on more than two lines on the one budget. How far back can you go?There are two answers to this question. The first is general: as far back eventually as the records exist in which your ancestors are recorded. In England and Wales, the very earliest parish registers date back to 1538; in Scotland the earliest registers date back to about 1700; in Ireland the survival of early registers is variable, but generally they do not extend much beyond 1800. The second is specific: working on our standard fee, we would normally expect to trace the family line you choose back several generations from our starting point, although progress does of course vary. Much depends upon the survival of the records, the distinctiveness of your ancestors' names and the extent to which they moved about the country. How soon can you have my report ready?Every case is different, so the exact date of completion depends on the course taken by research in your particular case and its complexity, but bound reports are usually ready within 4 to 6 months. We are always pleased to provide on request an update whilst research is in progress. Can you work to a particular deadline? We shall be pleased to give your research priority and will make every effort to have your report ready to reach you in time for a family birthday or anniversary or for Christmas. Extra copies of the report can also be ordered. Do you guarantee results? No genealogist, however diligent, can guarantee progress, since none of the records are wholly complete or accurate. There is also a limit to the searches that a single research budget can fund. Our fee is for providing you with a professional research service and the time and expertise we devote to researching your family's ancestry. In practice, we do make progress in the great majority of cases. Why should I use your services? We can make sound professional judgements on how to trace your ancestors, devising appropriate research strategies to co-ordinate the efforts of our researchers and drawing the results together in attractive bound report. We have an extensive network of experienced researchers, covering the whole of the British Isles, and our devotion to thoroughness and accuracy is second to none. Are there any hidden extras? No. There is no commitment to any payment or further research beyond the fee shown on the application form. Now, how do I start?Simply complete the Priority Research Checklist with all the information you can supply and send us your instructions in the reply-paid envelope provided. Our researchers can begin at once. |
